Penguin Slippers?

Penguin Place has not had adult penguin slippers in our inventory for nearly a year.  One distributer for our Emperor Chick Slippers went out of business, and another distributer for our classic penguin slippers had to deal with several unforeseen setbacks.  But, the word in the penguin pipeline is that our adult penguin slippers in adult sizes medium and large will be back in stock by mid-May.  More updates as they become available.

Penguin Stuff

When folks ask me what I do I usually pause a bit. I know that the simple response of I sell penguins will no doubt elicit a puzzled look, and then an onslaught of follow-up questions. It seems that over the years I’ve become use to such an exchange and I’ve learned that the term most people can wrap their minds around is “I sell penguin stuff.“  If you think about it it’s much more appropriate  than I sell penguin toys, or gifts or even I sell everything to do with penguins.  Everyone knows stuff, and I sell penguin stuff seems to do the trick for a starting point.  9 times out of 10 by saying “penguin stuff”,  people almost immediately get it, and start ticking off the penguin sub-categories on their own in an attempt to find something that I don’t have (which may be a shorter list).  They’ll ask with a grin if I carry socks, earrings, salt and pepper shakers, flags, hats, puzzles, night lights, wind ups, slippers…?  Got it, got it, got it, I’ll reply.  Finally, when they tire of their list of things I do have they’ll usually ask if I have a real penguin?  Well, yes and no I say to their surprise.  I do have a real one, but he’s no longer alive referring to the taxidermied Adelie that was willed to me by a long time customer and is in my P-Bay Section.   So, with almost 800 different penguin items (new and used) at Penguin Place, I guess the best short answer to the age old busy body question of what I do is, I sell penguin stuff.

Penguin Slippers Are Back In Black (and white)

Santa came early this year with a nice, fat shipment of our cool penguin slippers and in both adult sizes too.  Although our supplier swore to us the slippers were on the way, we’ve heard it all before and this time of the year seeing is believing, and all we’ve been seeing  is our slipper inventory dipping into the critical red level.  We even tinkered with the idea of raising the price a bit using the old penguin supply and demand theory.  But, today the “brown” brought us many a case pack of cool plush penguin slippers which we dutifully lugged up four flights of stairs to our igloo, ready to be repacked into smaller boxes, lugged down four flights of stairs and shipped out to penguin lovers around the world.  Just thought you’d like to know our slipper inventory is back in black (and white).

Penguin Slippers Come and Go

Just as we’re about to sell out of our Penguin Chick Slippers, a new shipment of our classic Cool Penguin Slippers are due to arrive from the west coast early next week which should enable us keep cool penguin slipper inventory healthy for the bulk of the holiday season.  Yesterday, the Penguin Chick Slippers sold out in the smaller size and we’re down to about a half dozen in the large (women 8-10) size.  Sadly, after they’re gone that’s it until 2011.

Penguin Christmas Gifts & Shoppers

As we head into the stretch run we at Penguin Place just wanted to say that we’re all caught up with our orders and have received only a couple of calls from customers wanting to know “where the heck are my penguins?!”, and it those cases we have been able to track them down.  We’re so caught up, that I’m actually going watch a movie with my wife tonight for the first time in a month.  Also, it looks like we’ll be completely out of slippers by the end of the weekend, but we’ll have a new shipment here by 12/23 for all you folks looking for some belated Christmas penguin slippers.  Also, the Penguin Pasta will be back in stock on Monday.

Penguin Slippers This Years Big Seller

Every year there’s a runaway big seller during the holiday season that simply eclipses the rest of our penguin inventory.  One year it was our Giant Inflatable Penguin, another year it would be a penguin couple plush or wind-up penguin pooper.  But this year our biggest seller thus far is our  black and white and adorable emperor chick penguin slippers.  The reasons are usually two fold other than cuteness (which everyone already knows they are.  The first reason is price and both these slipper styles are under $20.  The next reason is availability and not necessarily  our availability, but the availability of the slippers on other websites.  It seems that we stocked up on these annual best sellers and other website that were offering them did not, although we are now sold out of the Plush Penguin Slippers in the larger size.  Besides, slippers make for great gifts for penguin lovers of all ages and genders.  In the meantime we’ve been selling out of between 5 -8 penguin items a day since the start of the holiday rush and right now our inventory has gone from about 675 different penguin items to 529 and counting.

RIP Penguins

Penguin Place Sold Out / What’s New

A Rookery Of New Penguins

Boxes, boxes everywhere.  It figures that when my newest helper Michelle needs a day off I have dozens of penguin costumes to get out, a parent / teacher conference to attend and 12 boxes of new items to schlep up the stairs, format and put on line and put away.  Well, maybe I’ll put them away tomorrow.  The newest waddlers include new penguin pillowcases, Mr. & Mrs. Wind Up Waddlers, a very cute Days of the Week Eraser Set, Munki Munki Penguin Flannel Robes and P.J.’s, two different Sniff Penguin tissue designs, a Photo / Memo Holder,  a Penguin Eyeglasses holder and back in stock after a many month hiatus are the Adorable Emperor Chick Slippers, 45mm Snow globe and the Penguin Chick Shot Glass.  Busy, busy, busy.
