Tactical Nuclear Penguin is 5 Years Young

First released as the world’s strongest beer back in 2009 and it’s still going strong.  This completely insane product from the good folks at BrewDog who’s sole mission in life seems to be to make the world’s strongest beer and come up with cool names for them. The fantastical penguin brew is produced using intense cold, utilizing a process called “chill and skim” (which hints at how it works!). The result of this is an Imperial Stout that weighs in at a whopping 32% abv (to compare Miller Beer is 4.66% abv) .  Of course, they didn’t stop there. After it was brewed, they popped it into an Arran whiskey cask for 8 months, before a further 8 months in a cask from a famous Islay distillery. The result… Tactical Nuclear Penguin – BrewDog’s first double-casked beer!

Managing director James Watt said a limited supply of Tactical Nuclear Penguin would be sold for about $65 each. He said: “This beer is about pushing the boundaries, it is about taking innovation in beer to a whole new level.”  Mr Watt added that a beer such as Tactical Nuclear Penguin should be drunk in “spirit sized measures”.

A warning on the label states: “This is an extremely strong beer; it should be enjoyed in small servings and with an air of aristocratic nonchalance. In exactly the same manner that you would enjoy a fine whiskey, a Frank Zappa album or a visit from a friendly yet anxious ghost.”
